The Brookeville Knolls HOA Board sought feedback from the community on interests we can bring to the Greater Olney Civic Association (GOCA). GOCA is an umbrella organization whose mission is to study, plan, coordinate, and promote the overall civic, economic, ecological, and cultural welfare of the community within the Olney Master Plan area. The Brookeville Knolls HOA is a member of GOCA and a Board member attends the monthly meetings.
We had many responses to the survey which highlighted the following as high priority interests from our community. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Our community would like to see the following improvements:
Traffic and Traffic Enforcement
Walkability
Things to do (i.e. movie theater, bowling)
More Non-Chain Businesses
Our community would like to see the following preserved:
Small Town Feel
Sense of Community
Green Spaces
Current Development Blend (housing vs business)
The HOA Board will bring these concerns and priorities from our community to GOCA for consideration at its October meeting for attention by the GOCA committees on transportation, public policy and community affairs, and Olney Town Center Advisory Committee.
GOCA meetings are open to the public. Meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (except August) at 7:30 pm. The meetings take place at the Community Room of the Buffington RE/MAX Building at 3300 Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Olney, MD.
